\”Spider-Man 3\” Review

Spider-Man 3: Directed by Sam Raimi. With Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Thomas Haden Church. A strange black entity from another world bonds with Peter Parker and causes inner turmoil as he contends with new villains, temptations, and revenge.

This is the third movie in the set I bought back in August, and to my horror I found that it stops playing about half way through. Sure, I got a digital code, but as anyone can tell you, when it comes to 4k, the disks still have a massive uppper hand for many reasons, so to say I was frustrated and disappointed is a understatement. I could return it to Amazon, yes, but that\’s such a pain in the ass and ultimately I want a collection with disks in it that work, and I\’m never sure if I\’m going to get a valid return from Amazon. I gave up on the disk last night because it was like 11pm and switched over to Vudu, if just to finish the movie, then got super frustrated with how low rez the Vudu version was. One more switch to AppleTV on my roku got me where I needed to be though and I was able to finish the film. Today? I took about 30 minutes to research various methods of cleaning disks, cleaned it off with some Isopropyl alcohol, and Bob\’s your uncle, the stupid dick works now.

As for the movie, every time I watch it, and the more Tom Hardy Venom content is released, the more I appreciate Raimi\’s attention to detail. For as silly as it was to cast Topher Grace, he works better IMHO than Tom Hardy does, and thank god Raimi didn\’t decide to make the suit talk to it\’s hosts. It was still a stupid decision to cram as many villain as possible into the film, and messing around with the details of Uncle Ben\’s murder and Spidey\’s culpability in it is unforgiveable.

One thing I have completely warmed up to? Peter Parker\’s behavior while wearing the symbiote. I\’m now of the opinion that the dancing, the singing, the cheeseball finger guns he uses are all in line with what turning Tobey Maguire\’s Peter Parker up to 11 would look like. and that what we see in this movie is that character\’s idealation of what a \”bad ass man\” would be like, for all it\’s cringy goofiness.
