“Supergirl” Review

Directed by Jeannot Szwarc. With Helen Slater, Faye Dunaway, Peter O’Toole, Mia Farrow. After losing a powerful orb, Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, comes to Earth to retrieve it and instead finds herself up against a wicked witch.

My wife had never seent it, and I found it on the itunes for just $5! Supergirl was released in 1984, just a year after Superman fatigue was starting to set in with Superman 3, but this film may have helped that problem move further along. There’s not much to be said for the story, it’s about a Coven of two that are scheming their way to the top when a series of unfortunate events leads to Kara El to be sent to Earth to recover one of the only power sources her people have left.

While the wire work is obvious it’s still done well enough to be believable and doesn’t take you out of the film entirely.
