\”Tobor the Great\” Review

Directed by Lee Sholem. With Charles Drake, Karin Booth, Billy Chapin, Taylor Holmes. A young boy-genius befriends his grandfather\’s robot, designed as a test pilot for space travel and coveted by foreign spies.

Someone posted the above movie poster, and based on just this one image I found myself searching for the movie. A full version of it can be found for free on the Youtubes. This is a classic movie with fantastic retro science fiction concepts, the most obvious being the Robot\’s name: \”Tobor\”, which is just Robot spelled backwards! He\’s a less talkative version of Robby the Robot, but still has the emotions that are required to drive the story forward. I was 100% happy with the movie right up to the last 30 seconds, then had to rewind it and watch it again just to figure out what they were doing.

Regardless of that last 30 seconds, the entire film is a quick watch and if you like classic science fiction, \”Tobor The Great\” should be on your watch list.
