“Fast & Furious 6” Review

Fast & Furious 6: Directed by Justin Lin. With Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster. Hobbs has Dominic and Brian reassemble their crew to take down a team of mercenaries: Dominic unexpectedly gets sidetracked with facing his presumed deceased girlfriend, Letty.

If I thought the last movie was where shit got unbelievable, they double down on it here, with an international terrorism task force thing and everything gets get way too big picture for a street punk gang that used to hang out in a convenience store. Now there’s impossible mcguffins that make zero sense, and we’re reminded that gal gadot’s character was a former mossad agent, working for an oppressive and evil country for whom she killed many people, proudly. There’s a giant tank that gets stolen off the back of a truck, killing dozens of innocent people that were honestly just out for a drive, maybe take in some of the sights. Did they deserve to be crushed to death? Probably not.

The biggest stunt in this film was flipping a tank end over end while letty and dom fly toward each other, coliding in mid air and landing on a bridge that’s hundreds of feet up in the air. They try to out do themselves for the final set piece with the worlds longest air strip, but that entire sequence is just befuddling. They were taking off for something like 8 minutes, during which Gal Gadot’s character dies! they killed a major character! Then oh my god did they kill dom? he’s a major character too!

Oh thank god he’s still alive, and I’m sure we’ll see GG’s sexy lady assassin again too one day.
