In 1883, ship captain Hanson plans a shipwreck salvage mission in The Dutch East Indies to retrieve a cargo of pearls but an unexpected volcano eruption and a state-ordered transport of convicts upset his plans.

With a full, gorgeous orchestra providing the soundtrack, entirely too obvious miniatures, and an incredibly weird beard on the captain, this was a fun ride that had a fun adventure story marred by casual racism. Not by any of the characters that I can remember, but by the musical choices for the film itself!
